The persistent 'investment rumours' thread on the other site
Just thought I'd share what their top 'ITK' has said over time on this. I'll leave it to you to conclude whether what he's said has any consistency.

Klopp: wrong choice (Investment rumours)
Postby Jinxed on Sat Oct 10, 2015 7:17 pm

With what I've heard regarding our club him turning us down in the summer is a big mistake, huge mistake

Postby Jinxed on Sat Oct 10, 2015 7:31 pm

Money no object

Huge mistake, massive mistake

They will make sure we're a premier league club, you'll see in January

Postby Jinxed on Tue Dec 29, 2015 5:07 pm

Who said anything about January?

Postby Jinxed on Tue Dec 29, 2015 5:32 pm

i said funds would be made available to insure our Premiership status if we were faltering come Jan

By the way I have my own two penneth worth to add to this. The OS contract was signed on 22nd March 2013. Presumably the taxpayer clawback condition was set only on active shareholders in the club. At the time Stramur owned 35% of the club, but in July of that year Sullivan personally (ie not through any holding company as previously) bought a further 25%. Stramur still hold 10%. So it is conceivable that an investor can come in and take up 35% of the holdings of the club and the taxpayer clawback condition would not be activated.

Doesn't the Betway deal go past next year?

The West Stand doesn't.

Re: The persistent 'investment rumours' thread on the other site
I think the Betway deal included £1 mil a year for the West Stand.

There are separate deals for the stadium sponsorship and internal advertising, obviously, but both are shared in some manner. There's obviously loads more advertising space in the OS.

Re: The persistent 'investment rumours' thread on the other site
How much do we get now for the sponsorship of the west stand?

What about the other sponsorship around the ground? things like Lyca Mobile and the advertising boards.

Not sure if we will get that in the OS or if that goes to the Stadium owners?

as a lump sum it would help with FFP. Over 7 years not so much.

Re: The persistent 'investment rumours' thread on the other site
Yep, £2m a SEASON in addition is absolutely worth selling your home for.

Especially when you consider we could have sold the naming rights to our own stadium for a lot more than £2m a year.

Would be 15million more than we get now i guess.

Johnson 3:41 Wed Dec 30
Re: The persistent 'investment rumours' thread on the other site
Given it has not been announced Ern, no one would know.

I know enough to say not a lot thanks to this quote from David Sullivan:

“We’ve given up virtually all the naming rights, which are worth a lot of money".

Arsenal got £150m for 7 years and they qualify for the Champions League QFs EVERY season.

So, I can't see the OS getting much more than that given our standing in football.

So even 10% of £150m over 7 years is not a lot at all in the grand scheme of things is it?

I watched the interview last week and he also went on to say " Look the bottom line is if someone were to come along and offer us £200m tomorrow we are not going to sell.

£250M-£300M should do it then?

Re: The persistent 'investment rumours' thread on the other site
I disagree. If this season has shown us anything, it's that investment is no longer directly correlated with league position. Clever recruitment is more important.
